A duo of Celtic harpists and multi-instrumentalists will be performing a concert of rare instruments and stories as well as offering a beginning hands-on- harps workshop with harps provided at the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center in Astoria (corner of 16th and Franklin). The concert is on Friday, Oct 27 at 7:00 PM and will benefit the Partners for the PAC. The beginner harps workshop is on Saturday Oct 28 from 10 am to noon.
The concert features Lisa Lynne & Aryeh Frankfurter playing two Celtic harps, the rare Swedish Nyckelharpa, Ukranian Bandura, Cittern, Viola and more.The audience will hear Traditional instrumental music from Sweden and Ireland as well as original compositions blended with stories of humor and adventure.
The concert will take place at the the Clatsop Community College Performing Arts Center in Astoria on Friday, Oct 27 at 7:00 PM. Admission to the concert is $15.00.
The hands-on-harps workshop is on Saturday from 10am to noon. There is no musical experience necessary to learn some basic melodies on the Traditional Folk harps. The workshop is for adults and children ages 8 and up. A donation of $25 will reserve a Celtic harp to use. Reservations for the 15 available harps can be made at 503-338-2369. You can also attend the workshop as a listener and donate what you wish. Donations will support”Harps-for-Hearts” which places interactive music programs in schools and hospitals throughout the west coast.
Lisa Lynne & Aryeh Frankfurter are a Celtic harp and multi-instrumentalist duo. Aryeh Frankfurter is a renowned Celtic harper and multi- instrumentalist who went from virtuosic progressive rock violin to intricate Swedish folk and Celtic Music. He began with Classical violin at the age of three, and studied music throughout his life. He has 17 albums to his credit, works on film and television scores as composer and arranger, and continues to teach himself to play a variety of instruments most recently the rarely seen Swedish Nyckelharpa. He earned his masters in philosophy as he was becoming one of the most successful street performers in the US. He is a full time musician and producer whose uncommon approach to the Celtic harp and folk harp repertoire, his critically acclaimed albums have earned him high regard as an artist of extraordinary talents and abilities.
